Battle’s Over – A Nation’s Tribute Sunday 11th November 2018

Please join the Three Sutton Parish Councils and the Local Branch of the British Legion to mark the day 100 years ago when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War.
On Remembrance Sunday evening 11th November the Celebrations will take place on Sutton Valence Recreational Ground, where the beacon will be lit, and the village hall from 6.30pm.
6.55pm Battle’s Over – The Last Post
The Sutton Valence Combined Cadet Force will parade and the last Post will be played, as it will across more than a 1000 Beacon Sites across the country. All paying their personal tribute to those that gave their lives in WW1
7.00pm Battle’s Over – WWI– Beacons of Light
The 1000 Beacon sites including ours will be lit.
This reminds us that Our country was about to be plunged into darkness and it would be 4 long years before Britain and Europe would again experience the light of peace. The event also commemorates the huge army of men and women on the home front often in dangerous and exhausting conditions who underpinned the war effort.
7.05pm Battles Over – Ringing out for peace!
As beacons blaze around the country, bells in 1000 churches will ring out in celebration of the end of the First World War.
7.10pm Prayers of Remembrance and thanks
This will be led by our Vicar Reverend Fiona Haskett.
Following the Official programme of events the Sutton Valence School and the Scouts will be providing food and drink and there will be music and a chance to share a little time together with personal or collective memories as we watch the beacon burn and listen to the bells.

Please can you let the SV clerk know if you will be attending to help us cater for everyone.
